185 grams butter, chopped
1 cup pitted dates, finely chopped
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup milk
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
Instructions
Grease a deep 8 inches round cake pan or ring pan.Place butter, dates, sugar and milk in a medium-sized saucepan.Bring to boil and remove from heat. Stir in baking soda and stand 10 minutes. Stir in eggs and flour. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake at 350 F for 40-50 minutes.Stand 10 minutes before turning onto wire rack to cool.Dust with icing sugar.
