Or place the finished cake on a freezer-safe dish uncovered (or loosely covered in clingfilm). Once the buttercream is firm (usually after a couple of hours), wrap the cake in clingfilm.If you decide to go down the clingfilm route, when you defrost the cake, make sure you remove the clingfilm while the cake is still frozen.
