You can read more about that here.<br \/>\nNote that this bread mix was most recently tested with a Zojirushi BB-PAC20.\u00a0 (Learn more about what bread machines I own and recommend.)\u00a0 I\u2019ve made this bread at sea level and at an elevation of 3,700 feet.\u00a0 It worked out fine both times.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Preparing Italian Country Bread Mix<br \/>\nThis mix is for a two-pound bread machine. \u00a0Use the basic cycle with the medium crust setting. While I used a bread machine for this mix, the package also has instructions for making it by hand and baking it in the oven.<br \/>\nHere\u2019s a spoiler.\u00a0 I really liked this Italian Country Bread Mix and I think you will too.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\nThe instructions say to add water that\u2019s exactly eighty degrees. I use a\u00a0Zojirushi bread machine\u00a0with a preheat cycle. \u00a0So I just added room-temperature water.<br \/>\nIf your bread machine doesn\u2019t have a preheat cycle though, you should follow the instructions on the package.\u00a0<br \/>\nI added the ingredients as recommended by the instructions that came with my Zo, being careful to make a little nest for the yeast.<\/p>\n<p>I chose the basic setting.\u00a0 Even with bread mixes, you need to keep an eye on the dough after it begins to knead. Five or ten minutes of kneading, open the top of the bread machine and look at the dough.\u00a0 It should be a smooth, round ball.\u00a0<br \/>\nIf the dough is too dry add liquid a teaspoon at a time until it looks right.\u00a0 If it looks too wet, add flour a tablespoon at a time until it looks good.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\nThe first time I made this bread, I didn\u2019t make any adjustments.\u00a0 The second time I used this mix, I added 3.5 tablespoons of flour.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure why this was needed, but I think that\u2019s why the crust looks different on the two loaves.<br \/>\nPrepared Pantry Coupon CodeUse code DIVA to save $5 on your Prepared Pantry order.\u00a0 (Note: 1 use per customer)<br \/>\nItalian Country Bread<br \/>\nThis bread was all about texture.\u00a0 The bread was dense and the crust was chewy.\u00a0 So good!!<br \/>\nLook at that wonderful crust!<br \/>\nThe taste was mild with just a hint of yeast and a bit of sourdough.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s the perfect bread for sandwiches.\u00a0 It\u2019s strong enough to stand up to big, drippy ingredients.\u00a0 Its subtle flavor means that it won\u2019t fight for attention with the rest of the sandwich.<br \/>\nI give this bread a big thumb\u2019s up!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\nHere\u2019s how the loaf looked when I made it a few years ago.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s a loaf that I made recently.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While You\u2019re at Prepared Pantry<br \/>\nWhile you\u2019re at Prepared Pantry, check out these two mixes.
