These cookies are super simple and a great way to decorate with the kiddos. They’re also great for coworkers and teachers. Or you can make a batch and much on them through Thanksgiving. Anyway, they’re easy and oh so cute so let’s get started.

Supply List:(may contain affiliate links)
Recipes:

Cookie Cutter:

Airbrush System:

Airbrush Colors:

Royal Icing Colors and Consistency:
These are the royal icing colors and consistencies I used for these sweet turkey face sugar cookies, but use whatever you are comfortable with and whatever makes you happy.

Tools:

How to Make Sweet Little Turkey Face Sugar Cookies Video:

Enjoy the video!
Let’s decorate!

Bake your cookies and let them cool completely before you decorate them. I know these may look like little turkeys, but sugar cookies are way better at room temperature with the icing on top of the cookie and not running over the sides.
While they cool you can make your royal icing.
Draw the eyes, beak, and gobble wobbly thing (wattle if you want me to be correct) with a food-safe marker.

Time for the fun part!

Now we get to decorate. Begin by outlining the parts of the face.
Flood the beak and use a toothpick, turkey lacer, or a scribe tool to smooth out the icing and pop any air bubbles you see.
Let the yellow royal icing dry for a little while before you add the airbrush color.

The beak is the AmeriColor Lemon Yellow, but when you think of a turkey its beak seems to have a little orange tint. If you airbrush it with Outrageously Orange Edible Airbrush Color it will give it a nice turkey look. If you don’t have an airbrush system don’t stress. Add a little vodka or water to some food-gel color and carefully paint the edges. It works like a charm!
Next, flood the wattle and pop those air bubbles.
Let it dry for a bit before you add the Royal Red Velvet Edible Airbrush Color.
You’ll need something like a paper towel or a piece of parchment paper to protect the beak from the red airbrush spray. You can see how simple this is in the video.

Let’s help this turkey see the world!

Flood one eye with the white royal icing.
Add a black royal icing transfer or you can use black royal icing for the dot.
Let the white icing dry until it forms a crust so the eyes will look separate instead of like one big eye. I don’t know, one big eye might look pretty cool. Do whatever makes you happy.
After the royal icing on the eye forms a crust you can flood the other eye and add the black dot or royal icing transfer.
Add a white dot on each of the eyes.

Almost done!

I forgot to add the two nostrils in the video and we all know these cute little turkeys need to breathe. Just pipe two little dots on the beak and you’re all done. Thanks for decorating with me! It was a gobbley good time!
If you want the cookie cutter you can find it here. I’ll be adding a lot more cutters each day so be sure to visit often.
Bear hugs,

posted by Lisa Snyder on November 3, 2023 How to make sweet little turkey face sugar cookies is on the calendar today.
